5 Things to spice up your day:
1. Pretend you are a photo stylistWhat you need: Yummy fresh fruit. A cute vintage bowl. A surface by the window, to put your bowl on. A couple of props to play with: flowers, utensils, book, napkin, etc. A camera. What to do: You’ve got some playing to do now! Move things around and snap pics until you get the perfect shot. Oh… Actually… Who cares about a good shot? You will have so much fun styling, that the results hardly matter! I literally could spend all day moving cherries around until I am happy with their position. This is like a meditation. Watch how you come into a place of complete surrender of any other thoughts simply by focusing on the task at hand.
2. RefreshWhat you need: A large and clear pitcher. Some mint, limes or cucumber. Water. Ice. A favorite clear tall glass. What to do: Add a handful of mint, a few thin slices of lime or cucumber to your iced-water pitcher. Set it by your desk or work station and drink your refreshing water all day. It is such a simple treat, but it will nourish you to no end…
3. WanderWhat you need: Public transportation. Enough money for round trip tix... Or not. Hey. It’s your adventure. Just depends on how serious you are about this game ;) Perhaps a local map or a public trans map (just in case!). Journal. Pen. Camera. Powerbar and water? That’s a good idea too. And one more thing: choose a direction. What to do: Hop in the bus, train, ferry and follow the direction or destination you picked. Be open to hop off anytime to explore. It’s always a fun adventure to go to a cafĂ©, bookstore or park on the other side of town. Feels like a mini vacation.
4. Watch the sunsetWhat you need: A pair of Sunglasses. An interrupted view of the horizon (sometimes finding that place is already an adventure!). If you want to go big, bring along someone you love, a bottle of champagne and 2 glasses! What to do: Well, this may be a cliche... But when was the last time you actually made it to the beach or open fields to watch the sunset? Sunsets always teach me that there is a time for everything. Time to rise and time to rest. You really don’t have much to do in this case. Just relax, take in your surroundings, enjoy the free spectacle, and while the sun goes down, let all your troubles go as well. Then get some rest before you start anew the next day!
5. Free your toesWhat you need: Toes :) Shoes (to get rid off), 5 minutes, a patch of sand or grass. What to do: Free your toes! Take your shoes off and sink them into the sand or grass. I am still amazed at how much I can let go, by simply letting go of my shoes! You can experiment closing your eyes and enjoying the sensation of the cold or warm fluffy grass between each of your toes or the soft sand, hugging and rubbing your feet. I used to go to a park nearby my work at lunchtime to free my toes and distress from meetings… It worked every time!
